Both a retail and dining establishment, André’s Confiserie Suisse required renovations to its dining room and an addition to and renovation of the existing retail and café areas. New spaces included retail sales areas, wine bar, display areas, offices, and warehousing.
Broken out into two phases, the project was completed while manufacturing and baking operations continued in the adjacent facility. Managing the impacts of construction activity, including odor, dust, and noise, required consistent daily communication with the Andre’s team.
Phase 1
To achieve the owner’s goals, we opened a 25-foot wall to create new storefront glazing into the café and retail area. A new aluminum backlit entry canopy was constructed to reflect the chocolatier’s signature artisan design. New white solid surface display and service casework, service areas, point-of-sale stations, restrooms, storage, kitchen, and manufacturing spaces were all included in the scope.
Phase 2
The Tea Room renovation updated the existing dining room while preserving its established character. Modifications were made to the existing wood “Swiss” framing, and existing historic tile flooring and wall finishes were carefully patched and matched. New lighting and ceiling systems were installed, along with new coffee stations including espresso equipment, service counters, and kitchen collaboration spaces.
