Our involvement in the development of Abundant Life’s first satellite campus in Kansas began with executing the owner’s request to identify a project site in Johnson County. We looked at several possible options with the owner, but none were the right fit. Separately, Overland Park Church of Christ (a previous client) reached out to us regarding downsizing options. We connected the two organizations and, to the delight of both parties, a purchase deal was struck within weeks.
Prior to the purchase, Pearce led extensive preconstruction services, including building evaluation and cost estimation for construction, renovation, owner soft costs, and owner furnishings, to help the owner and architect determine how to allocate the budget most effectively for a phased renovation of the 100,000+ square foot facility on 25 acres of property.
The construction scope included replacing existing Kalwall window systems and installing new sheet metal and roofing, alongside a comprehensive interior renovation encompassing a 1,100-seat worship room, updated audio/video/lighting systems, refreshed lobby spaces, and a fully themed children’s environment.
Inside the 1,100-seat worship room, the renovation involved modifying the stage platform layout, AVL booth, loudspeakers, and lighting positioning, and sprinkler systems. To modify the lighting and sprinkler piping, we constructed custom scaffolding tower systems that could operate on the existing sloped floor without exceeding the structural load limits. We also devised an approach to ensure sensitive AVL equipment was protected from dust and debris.
Wacky World Productions was engaged to design a children’s themed environment that incorporates interactive camera displays, 3D artwork, interior slides, and play equipment.
“By partnering with Pearce Construction, they were able to include our ministry’s vision and long range goals into a collaborative effort with our architect that allowed ministry staff and leaders to see and understand how the vision could unfold while holding to budget constraints.”
