How We Built This Project

This ground-up, new-construction project delivered a landmark worship facility anchored by a 2,200-seat worship room and more than 500 parking stalls. The scale and complexity of the project demanded precision coordination across every building system and trade.

The worship room itself presented some of the most significant technical challenges on the project. Achieving optimal acoustics required a carefully engineered combination of sound absorption and deflection, while the installation of a large-span girder truss system defined the structural backbone of the column-free space. Extensive audio, video, and lighting systems were integrated throughout, including massive LED walls, projectors, screens, and speaker assemblies. To ensure sound and visuals were impactful without being overwhelming, we worked with the project architect to arrive at the right balance of sound absorption and deflection.

Massive piers were installed below grade to address existing site conditions and stabilize the building’s foundation systems. Above grade, the project team partnered with Wacky World Productions to design and build a fully themed children’s environment, complete with interactive camera displays, 3D artwork, interior slides, and play equipment throughout the children’s entry, corridors, and play areas.

A large-scale commercial coffee shop was also integrated into the facility. Through full coordination of owner-supplied equipment, display cases, and menu boards, we achieved a cafe that rivals any commercial coffee shop in Kansas City.

The most notable achievement on this project was the addition of an entire children’s wing during active construction. While additional shell and finish spaces had been planned as future phases contingent on fundraising outcomes, Pearce engineered a sequencing plan that allowed this wing to be added via change order — without extending the overall completion date. This required exacting schedule coordination and demonstrated our ability to absorb significant scope changes while protecting the owner’s timeline and budget commitments.

“Throughout our three years of listening, planning, and designing, Pearce Construction was always engaged in every detail and devoted countless hours in research to bridge our ministry’s wants and architectural ideas to a realistic vision we could all see and afford.”
